Prospect discovered in 1998 by airborne magnetics, about 40 km east of Chañaral; resource of 2300 Mt at 30 % Fe and 325.8 Mt at 0.39 % V2O5. Massive magnetite lenses and magnetite-calcite-quartz and magnetite-actinolite veins in a ductile shear zone of the Atacama fault system, followed by brecciated stockworks; hosted by La Negra Formation volcanics (Late Jurassic) and the Sierra Aspera diorite (Cretaceous), pervasive sodic-calcic alteration. Magnetite with ilmenite exsolution, actinolite-magnetite pair at 835-860 °C, actinolite δD about -40 ‰: magmatic iron oxide-apatite system, analogue of the deep root of IOCG deposits according to Rodriguez-Mustafa et al. (2020). Indicative coordinates, derived from the distance to Chañaral.
