Iron oxide copper-gold deposit (IOCG)
A family of deposits in which copper and gold accompany large amounts of iron oxide (magnetite or hematite), often in hydrothermal breccias. They may also contain uranium and rare earths, as at Olympic Dam.
Composition
Metals: Cu, Au (U, rare earths, Ag, Co). Minerals: magnetite or hematite, chalcopyrite, bornite, chalcocite, pyrite.
