Carajás Mineral Province, Pará, Brazil
IOCGCu-Au
- Type
- Iron oxide-copper-gold (IOCG) breccias and stockworks
Carajás Mineral Province, Itacaiúnas Shear Belt, southern segment, near Canaã dos Carajás; same family as Sossego. 170 Mt at 1.0 % Cu and 0.3 g/t Au, along a 60 km WNW-ESE shear zone, at the contact between the Itacaiúnas Supergroup (about 2.76 Ga) and the Xingu basement. Sodic alteration, potassic alteration with magnetite, pervasive chlorite linked to quartz-carbonate-sulphide breccias; chalcopyrite, bornite, hematite, magnetite. The shallowest of the Carajás IOCG systems according to the authors. Indicative coordinates.
