- Type
- Iron oxide-copper-gold (IOCG)
Carajás Mineral Province, Itacaiúnas Shear Belt, southern segment, near Canaã dos Carajás; same family as Sossego. Hosted by the Bacaba Tonalite (about 3.00 Ga), the Serra Dourada Granite (2.85 Ga) and gabbros. Sodic, iron and potassic-iron alteration at about 2.70 Ga, overprinted at about 2.06 Ga (chlorite, albite, sericite, calcite-hematite). Chalcopyrite-magnetite-bornite ore, then chalcopyrite-pyrite-hematite ore. Mixing of a hot magmatic brine with a cold, dilute fluid; calcite fluids near 225 °C: δ13C -4.8 to -3.0 ‰. Indicative coordinates.
