- Orogenic gold in quartz-carbonate veins (Appalachian greenstone belt)
Annidale Group (late Cambrian to Tremadocian, 497 to 481 Ma), Penobscot back-arc between Ganderia and Avalonia, metamorphosed at greenschist facies; auriferous quartz-carbonate veins with chlorite-sericite-fuchsite haloes, ascribed to the Penobscot orogeny and the Stewarton Gabbro (479 ± 2 Ma) according to the authors. Carpenter Brook Formation (siltstone, felsic and intermediate tuff), 6 km northwest of Hatfield Point: quartz-carbonate veins along NE and NW faults linked to the Taylor Brook Fault. Arsenopyrite, pyrite, chalcopyrite, bournonite, tetrahedrite, galena, pyrrhotite; grab samples up to 42.8 g/t Au, best drill interval 2.06 g/t Au over 4.5 m. Indicative coordinates (6 km northwest of Hatfield Point).
