Orogenic gold
Gold in quartz veins, controlled by shear zones in growing mountain belts. The fluids are metamorphic and of moderate temperature. More than three quarters of the gold mined in history comes from this deposit type.
Composition
Metals: Au (Ag, As, Sb, W, Te). Minerals: quartz, carbonates (ankerite), arsenopyrite, pyrite, pyrrhotite, native gold.
