Type
Mesothermal gold-silver quartz veins in Precambrian granitic gneiss

Eight massive auriferous quartz veins (Guksa, Bongamri, Sangban, Sinri, Daeheung 1 and 2, etc.) filling NE and NW fractures of fault zones; mined from 1928 to 1959 then from 1980 to 1995, more than 877 kg gold and 179 kg silver between 1985 and 1991, average grade 8.4 g/t Au and 3.6 g/t Ag. Stage I with arsenopyrite, pyrite, pyrrhotite, sphalerite, chalcopyrite, galena, electrum, argentite and argentian tetrahedrite; stage II with calcite only. Mineralisation age 127.1 ± 2.8 Ma (sericite K-Ar, So et al., 1988). Yoo et al. (2010): H2O-NaCl-CO2 fluids at 200 to 383 °C then H2O-NaCl at 110 to 385 °C, magmatic sulfur (H2S δ34S 1.5 to 4.8 ‰), magmatic water mixed with local meteoric water; veins linked to Daebo orogeny intrusions. Indicative coordinates: read on Figure 2 of Yoo et al. (2010), to within 5 km.
