Orphan Lode (Grand Canyon)
Arizona, Coconino County, South Rim of the Grand Canyon, United States
UraniumU (Cu)
- Type
- Uranium-bearing collapse breccia pipe
Circular vertical collapse breccia pipe in Pennsylvanian and Permian limestones of the Arizona Strip, uranium concentrated in the matrix and fractures, Late Triassic mineralisation; fluid inclusions at 80 to 170 °C and 9 to 19 wt% NaCl eq. from secondary sources cited by Balboni et al. (2016); highest 87Sr/86Sr ratio of the study. Uraninite 87Sr/86Sr measured by Balboni et al. (2016) for nuclear forensics: low ratios (below 0.7200) in low-temperature sandstone deposits, high in pegmatites, veins and breccia pipes. Coordinates from Mindat.
