- Sedimentary-exhalative (SEDEX) Zn-Pb sulphide-barite deposit in Devonian slates
SEDEX Zn-Pb-barite deposit of the Devonian slate belt of the Rhenish Massif, mined by Sachtleben AG until 1992; its pyrite concentrates fed sulphuric acid production, whose Tl-rich roaster calcines, added as an iron corrective to the raw meal of a cement plant near Lengerich, caused the late-1970s Tl pollution. Collection pyrite with 200 mg/kg Tl and ε205Tl of -0.36, identical to the plant's cement kiln dust (-0.19) (Kersten et al., 2014). Indicative coordinates (Meggen village).
