Banded iron formationsFe (talc, Au-Pd)

Type
Soft hematite on itabirite, with talc mineralization

High-grade soft hematite deposit (about 67 % Fe, up to 1 % Mn), orebody 1300 m long in Cauê Formation itabirite, bounded by E-W shear zones; former 19th-century underground palladian gold mine. Hematite-talc schist between soft hematite and dolomitic itabirite, formed by alteration of dolomitic itabirite by oxidizing F-rich brines. Cabral et al. (2012): dravitic tourmaline from -20 to -12 ‰, non-marine meta-evaporitic origin.
