Wilton wetland complex, Kickapoo River floodplain, unglaciated region of Wisconsin: alluvium less than 5 m thick on Cambrian sandstone (87Sr/86Sr 0.71283), bluffs capped by Ordovician carbonates (0.70906). Regional discharge area with strong upward gradients. Coordinates of the village of Wilton, indicative. Sedge meadow, alder shrub-carr (site W1) and riparian forest (site W2) on 0.1 to 1 m of peat; fed mainly by ground water, recent rain does not reach below 0.30 m.
