Yellowstone National Park. Sodium chloride spring with 470 ppm SiO2, pH 7.8-8.1, supersaturated in amorphous silica; samples from the pool (81.8 °C) to 20 m downflow (33.5 °C). Cooling drives precipitation.

0.37 ± 0.23 ‰0.15 / 0.7 ‰5thermal water (dissolved silicon)
Mean and standard deviation recalculated from 5 samples. CS1 to CS5: water gets heavier downflow as light sinter precipitates. Pool consistent with 0.1 ‰ (Douthitt, 1982).
