- Type
- Tl-only deposit in micritic limestones
First known thallium-only deposit, about 2 km northeast of Xiangquan town: stratabound and lenticular bodies 10 to 15 m thick in micritic limestones, marls and mudstones of the Lunshan Formation (Lower Ordovician), controlled by the Xiao-Xiaolongwang-Dalongwang anticline. Thallium mainly in the pyrite lattice, rarely as micro-inclusions (lorandite); quartz, fluorite, barite and carbonate gangue. Fan et al. (2014) see a submarine hydrothermal deposit later overprinted (18 ± 2 ‰ offset between pyrite and Ordovician seawater), whereas Zhou et al. (2005) described an epithermal system. Indicative coordinates, derived from the distance to the He county seat (about 20 km northwest).
