- Type
- Jiaodong-type orogenic gold: disseminated altered-rock ore (Xujiatuan, Shangzhuang) and auriferous quartz veins (Huangbuling, Qilishan)
Early Cretaceous (about 120 Ma) gold deposit hosted by the Mesozoic Linglong and Guojialing granites. In the quartz veins, δ7Li of quartz and pyrite decreases from the first to the third stage, which the authors explain by closed-system Rayleigh fractionation from an initial fluid near +28.9 ‰. In the altered-rock type, lithium in quartz results from mixing between the heavy ore fluid and the light host granite.
δ7Li in ‰ (per mil) Values of the same system
Standard : L-SVEC
| Value | Range | n | Mineral or matrix | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 22.23 ± 5.69 ‰ | 9.42 / 33.64 ‰ | 11 | quartz from the auriferous veins (Huangbuling, Qilishan and other Canzhuang veins) Mean and standard deviation recalculated from 11 samples in Table 1. Decrease from stage 1 (+22.0 to +33.6 ‰) to stage 3 (+9.4 to +21.5 ‰). The discussion gives +19.7 to +33.6 ‰ for this type, omitting sample CZ-7 (+9.42 ‰). | Bao et al. | 12.28 ± 16.61 ‰ | 0.53 / 24.02 ‰ | 2 | pyrite from the auriferous veins Two samples, Table 1: +24.02 ‰ at stage 1 (CZ-21) and +0.53 ‰ at stage 2 (CZ-18). Very low lithium (0.05 to 0.15 ppm), probably carried by fluid inclusions; values given for reference only by the authors. | Bao et al. (2021), Lithium isotopic systematics of ore-forming fluid in the orogenic gold… |
| 16.97 ± 5.27 ‰ | 5.48 / 21.14 ‰ | 8 | quartz from the altered-rock ore (Xujiatuan, Shangzhuang) Mean and standard deviation recalculated from 8 samples in Table 1. Stage 1 clearly lighter (+5.5 to +13.7 ‰) than stages 2 and 3 (+17.3 to +21.1 ‰); positive correlation between lithium content and δ7Li, a sign of mixing with the granite. | Bao et al. (2021), Lithium isotopic systematics of ore-forming fluid in the orogenic gold… |
| 4.89 ± 5.25 ‰ | 0.47 / 16.78 ‰ | 8 | pyrite from the altered-rock ore (Xujiatuan, Shangzhuang) Mean and standard deviation recalculated from 8 samples in Table 1. Stage 1 from +0.5 to +2.8 ‰, stage 2 from +2.3 to +16.8 ‰, stage 3 from +5.7 to +6.2 ‰. | Bao et al. (2021), Lithium isotopic systematics of ore-forming fluid in the orogenic gold… |
| 1.93 ± 0.08 ‰ | 1.87 / 1.99 ‰ | 2 | unaltered host granite (sample HBL-4) Mean of one analysis and its repeat, Table 1; 2.8 ppm Li. Light end-member of the mixing invoked for the altered-rock type. | Bao et al. (2021), Lithium isotopic systematics of ore-forming fluid in the orogenic gold… |
| 12.6 ‰ | 1 | altered granite (sample CZ-21) One analysis, Table 1; 2.85 ppm Li. Clearly heavier than fresh granite: alteration by the ore fluid adds 7Li. | Bao et al. (2021), Lithium isotopic systematics of ore-forming fluid in the orogenic gold… |
