Dahutang (Shimensi ore block)
Wuning County, Jiujiang, northern Jiangxi (Jiuling belt), China
Other hydrothermalW-Mo (Cu)
- Type
- Granite-related disseminated veinlet scheelite and wolframite-quartz veins
Giant tungsten deposit in the contact zone between middle Yanshanian granites (porphyritic granite, granite porphyry) and a Neoproterozoic (late Jinning) biotite granodiorite. Biotite, greisen and alkali metasomatic alteration releasing calcium for scheelite. Magmatic fluid and sulfur, granite derived from melting of W-rich metasediments of the Shuangqiaoshan group. Second deposit of the Jiangnan tungsten belt (1.07 Mt WO3 at 0.15 %), after Zhuxi (3.44 Mt at 0.5 %, the largest tungsten deposit in the world); the belt has two mineralisation periods, 150 to 135 and 130 to 125 Ma (Mao et al., 2020). Mindat coordinates of the Shimensi ore block.
