Volcanogenic massive sulfidesCu-Zn-Pb (pyrite)
- Type
- Volcanogenic massive sulfide
Volcanogenic massive sulfide body of the Iberian Pyrite Belt, hosted by the volcano-sedimentary complex (Late Devonian to Visean). Its lead is very homogeneous over 250 km and close to that of the host acid lavas (Marcoux, 1998). Closed mine, worked since Roman times; its gossan was studied together with the ore. Indicative coordinates.
206Pb/204Pb isotope ratio, no unit Values of the same system
Standard : NIST SRM 981
| Value | Range | n | Mineral or matrix | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 18.175 ± 0.013 | 18.163 / 18.188 | 3 | massive sulfides (bulk ore or galena separate) Mean and standard deviation recalculated from 3 samples, Table 1. Massive pyritic ore (massive body). Lead content of 1548 ppm in the first sample. | Marcoux (1998), Lead isotope systematics of the giant massive sulphide deposits in the Ib… |
| 18.191 ± 0.01 | 18.176 / 18.201 | 6 | gossan over massive sulfides Mean and standard deviation recalculated from 6 samples, Table 4. As at Lousal, some values trend towards more radiogenic lead (slight contamination by allochthonous regional lead). | Marcoux (1998), Lead isotope systematics of the giant massive sulphide deposits in the Ib… |
