Volcanogenic massive sulfide (VMS)
Sulfide lenses deposited on or just below the sea floor, above hydrothermal vents related to submarine volcanism, like today’s black smokers on ridges and arcs.
Composition
Metals: Cu, Zn, Pb, Ag, Au. Minerals: pyrite, chalcopyrite, sphalerite, galena, pyrrhotite; volcanic host rocks.
