Piaohechuan (No. 4 intrusion)
Central Jilin, China
Magmatic (Ni-Cu-PGE, carbonatites)Ni-Cu (PGE)
- Type
- Magmatic Ni-Cu sulfides in a small gabbroic intrusion
Small Triassic (about 216 Ma) hornblende-olivine gabbro intrusion at the eastern end of the Central Asian orogenic belt, with about 10,000 t Ni. Little-variable Nd but highly radiogenic Sr and Os point to assimilation of crustal sulfur in a shallow chamber; the sulfide liquid migrated through partially molten silicates to form the network and breccia ores. Indicative coordinates.
