UraniumU

Type
Sand-hosted roll-front uranium

Roll-front uranium deposit in Eyre Formation sands (Palaeogene), Frome Basin, mined by in situ recovery (Heathgate Resources). 236U produced in situ by neutron capture on 235U: 236U/238U of the order of 10⁻¹², higher in the most U-rich samples, with deviations linked to mineralogy and water (Murphy et al., 2015). Samples from drill hole PRC015 on either side of a thin ferricrete layer (quartz, pyrite, U minerals, rutile, ilmenite). Indicative coordinates (Pepegoona West, a few kilometres away).

Mean and standard deviation recalculated from 3 samples (published weighted means of replicates), 173 to 24,200 µg/g U; the richest sample (PRC015-24) has the lowest ratio, an exception to the general trend.
