UraniumU

Type
Sand-hosted roll-front uranium

Roll-front uranium deposit in Eyre Formation sands (Palaeogene), Frome Basin, mined by in situ recovery (Heathgate Resources). 236U produced in situ by neutron capture on 235U: 236U/238U of the order of 10⁻¹², higher in the most U-rich samples, with deviations linked to mineralogy and water (Murphy et al., 2015). Only groundwater where 236U was detected (well PW0061 in ore above 1 % U). Coordinates of well PW0061 (GDA94, zone 54) converted to degrees.

0 ± 00 / 03pyritic and carbonaceous mineralised sands (bulk, drill hole PRC023)
Mean and standard deviation recalculated from 3 samples (published weighted means of replicates), 403 to 4797 µg/g U; same ratio as the ore groundwater (6.57 ± 2.97 × 10⁻¹²), isotopic equilibrium between water and ore.
