The Viviez zinc ore processing plant (Vieille Montagne then Umicore) refined up to 100,000 t of zinc per year (1985) by electrolysis and thermal processing; its tailings, very heavy in zinc, polluted the Riou Mort and then the Lot until extraction stopped in 1987. Soils upstream (V0) and downstream (V1) of the plant, zinc from 877 to 2983 mg/kg. Indicative coordinates.
