Litter and O horizon of a forest soil, sampled following Nezat et al. (2004). Site remote from point sources, kept as a witness of background atmospheric deposition; mercury with δ202Hg of -1.85 ‰ and Δ201Hg of -0.36 ‰, close to that of North American and Russian coals (Biswas et al., 2008). Indicative coordinates (AmeriFlux US-HBK site of the Hubbard Brook forest).
