Yueyang (Bitian)

Fujian, Zijinshan ore field (Shanghang), China

Epithermal depositsAg, Au, Cu

Type
Low-sulfidation epithermal Ag-Au-Cu over a limited porphyry copper system

Deposit also called Bitian, 3 km south-west of the Zijinshan Cu-Au deposit, on the north-eastern rim of the Yueyang volcanic basin: 1330 t Ag at 137.6 g/t, 8.2 t Au and 0.04 Mt Cu (Zhang, 2013). Stratoid and lenticular bodies in the Jurassic Zijinshan granitic batholith, below the Cretaceous Shimaoshan Group volcanic rocks, controlled by NW listric faults; adularia dated at 91.5 to 94.7 Ma (40Ar/39Ar). Zhong et al. (2017): magmatic copper stage (inclusions at about 259 °C and vapours at 372-387 °C), meteoric-water-dominated silver stage with boiling. Indicative coordinates: read on Figure 1 of Zhong et al. (2017) from the labelled corner (116°28′25″ E, 25°13′23″ N) and the scale bar, to within about 1 km.
