Late Miocene deposit (Empire veins and stockwork) in intensely altered andesites and dacites. K, Rb, Na and Sr halos extend 200-350 m from the veins, beyond the low-δ18O anomaly. Vein quartz 7.0-11.7 ‰ (mean 9.4 ‰, earlier studies); local meteoric water about -5 ‰. Position estimated 8 km north-west of Waihi, on Golden Cross Road (Hauraki District heritage inventory).
