SkarnsW
- Type
- Skarn- and shear vein-hosted scheelite of metamorphic origin
Scheelite deposit (70,000 t WO3, 49.3 Mt at 0.14 % WO3) in skarn-altered conglomerates, psammites and slates of the Ordovician-Silurian Hodgkinson Formation, in a former fore-arc basin. Early metamorphic scheelite, then Permian scheelite (about 275 Ma) in shear veins and haloes at about 300 °C and 1 to 1.8 kbar, deposited by a low-salinity, reduced metamorphic fluid; Permian granites supplied the heat. Indicative coordinates.
