SkarnsFe (Cu)
- Type
- Skarn iron ore (magnetite)
Locally copper-bearing skarn iron ore (0.1 % Cu): magnetite, pyrite, chalcopyrite and pyrrhotite, the copper-rich part following wall-rock fracturing. Volcano-sedimentary iron ore of the Lapponian Greenstone group (2.0 to 2.5 Ga), metamorphosed during the Svecokarelian orogeny. The widely scattered δ34S and disequilibrium between sulfides indicate bacterial reduction of seawater sulfate. Indicative coordinates: Tervaskoski rapids, consistent with the map of the publication.
