Junosuando (Masugnsbyn field)
Norrbotten, Sweden
SkarnsFe
- Type
- Skarn iron ore (magnetite)
Skarn iron ore of the Masugnsbyn field, mostly made of quartz-banded ores, in mica schists, gneisses and graphitic schists. Volcano-sedimentary iron ore of the Lapponian Greenstone group (2.0 to 2.5 Ga), metamorphosed during the Svecokarelian orogeny. The widely scattered δ34S and disequilibrium between sulfides indicate bacterial reduction of seawater sulfate. Indicative coordinates.
