Tangyin
Southern Okinawa Trough, north-east of Taiwan, about 1170 m depth, Mer de Chine orientale
Volcanogenic massive sulfidesZn-Pb-Cu (Ba)
- Type
- Modern seafloor hydrothermal sulfides (back-arc)
Seafloor hydrothermal field of the incipient Okinawa Trough back-arc basin, on thinned, sediment-covered continental crust. Lead mixes local volcanic and sedimentary lead; zinc mainly comes from the volcanics, with kinetic fractionation during sphalerite precipitation. Native sulfur deposit with pyrite and minor sphalerite, formed at the late high-temperature stage (sphalerite at about 359 °C). Coordinates of the dredged samples.
