SEDEXPb-Zn-Ag

Type
Stratiform sedimentary exhalative Pb-Zn-Ag with tourmalinite pipe

Giant deposit of the lower Aldridge Formation (Mesoproterozoic), clastic turbidites cut by gabbro sills and dykes dated 1468 ± 3 Ma; middle to upper greenschist metamorphism (about 450 °C and 3.8 kbar). Discordant tourmalinite pipe below the western part of the orebody (1470 × 980 m, at least 450 m deep), rarer hanging-wall tourmalinites, chlorite-albite-pyrite alteration zone. Jiang et al. (1999): tourmalines from -11.1 to -2.9 ‰; boron from footwall clastic sediments and deep non-marine evaporites, variations mainly due to seawater entrainment and Rayleigh fractionation. Indicative mine coordinates, not published.
