Hydrothermal Co-Ni arsenides and sulpharsenides

Axial Zone of the Spanish Central Pyrenees (Huesca and Lleida), Co-Ni arsenide, diarsenide and sulpharsenide deposits in the hanging wall of thin-skinned thrusts (Gavarnie nappe, Nogueras thrust sheets), footwall of Variscan black shales; formed between 300 and 600 °C. Sm-Nd age of ore-stage ankerites of 86 ± 27 Ma (Late Cretaceous), coeval with Pyrenean high-temperature low-pressure metamorphism, mantle exhumation and alkaline magmatism. Fluid of magmatic origin masked by interaction with black shales and carbonates, sulphur and metals leached from the Variscan basement and the underlying black shales according to Manuel et al. (2018). Small abandoned mine, a mineralogical site famous for its pink and green cobaltoan calcite; impregnations, disseminations and veinlets in Buntsandstein sandstones and conglomerates (Late Permian to Early Triassic) unconformable on Silurian black shales, near tholeiitic dolerites ('ophites') of 199 ± 2 Ma; stage I with Co-rich pyrite, gersdorffite and cobaltite, stage II with pyrite, tennantite and celsian; Nogueras thrust sheets. Stage I sulphur magmatic (local dolerites). Coordinates from Mindat (Peramea, Pallars Sobirà).
