OtherB
- Type
- Quaternary salar borates (ulexite)
Eastern Puna salar; Quaternary borates (mostly ulexite, minor borax or tincalconite) as massive beds or nodules up to 1.5 m thick (0.3 m on average), with carbonate, gypsum and halite, deposited by former thermal springs along fractures at the salar margin. Samples from the top 30 cm (Kasemann et al., 2004). Hosted by Ordovician and Tertiary sediments and Cenozoic volcanic rocks. Coordinates not published (map only).
