- Type
- Reduced calcic scheelite skarn and scheelite-molybdenite-quartz veins
Very large tungsten deposit (0.34 Mt WO3 at 0.5 to 1.0 %) in the Laojunshan (Song Chay) metamorphic dome: three flat-lying mineralised zones replacing limestones and calcareous schists of the Nanyangtian Formation. Grossular-diopside-tremolite-actinolite skarn, scheelite, pyrrhotite and pyrite; reduced (CH4) fluids of 193 to 298 °C, low salinity. Two episodes: skarn related to a Jurassic granite (zircon at 162.5 ± 3.0 Ma) and scheelite-molybdenite-quartz veins dated at 97.8 ± 0.7 Ma (biotite Ar-Ar), coeval with the Cretaceous Laojunshan granite. Magmatic fluid mixed with meteoric water. Indicative coordinates.
