Flat Tyre
Burketown mineral field, Lawn Hill platform (Mount Isa basin), north-western Queensland, Australia
Other hydrothermalZn-Pb
- Type
- Sphalerite-pyrite-dolomite Zn-Pb veins and breccias (prospect)
Prospect about 25 km south-east of Century, in the Riversleigh Siltstone along a north-west fault parallel to the Termite Range fault; up to 22 m at 1.9 % Zn. Syn-ore illite dated at about 1562 Ma. Ore fluids of the Burketown field are evolved basinal brines (meteoric waters and evaporated seawater), sulfur coming from thermochemical sulfate reduction. The very wide δ34S spread (6.3 to 47.3 ‰) reflects closed-system sulfate reduction. Indicative coordinates.
