Deh Hosein

Sanandaj-Sirjan zone, 7 km south-east of Astaneh (west-central Iran), Iran

Other hydrothermalSn-Cu-As (Au)

Type
Quartz-arsenopyrite-chalcopyrite-cassiterite veins and disseminations in Jurassic metasediments

Ancient tin-copper mine discovered in 2000: more than 75 large open pits over 4.5 × 6 km, radiocarbon-dated to 1775-1522 BC (intermediate layer), on the margin of the Astaneh intrusive complex. Up to 6.72 % Sn, 10 % Cu and 23.9 % As. Proposed as a major tin source for Iran, Mesopotamia and beyond (Nezafati et al., 2009). Coordinates of sample DHN-1A. Indicative coordinates.

206Pb/204Pb isotope ratio, no unit Values of the same system

Standard : NIST SRM 981

ValueRangenMineral or matrixSource
18.461 ± 0.03918.415 / 18.54718copper and tin ores, galena, arsenopyrite (pit and dump samples)
Mean and standard deviation recalculated from 18 samples, Table 2 (DHN-1A to DHN-93), read from the page image. Very small variation whatever the mineral (galena, copper ore, arsenopyrite, cassiterite-bearing ore); compatible according to the authors with part of the bronzes from Luristan, the Persian Gulf, Mesopotamia and Thermi. The nearby Nezam Abad prospect (12 km south-west) reportedly has similar lead, with no data published here.
