Menez Gwen hydrothermal field

Mid-Atlantic Ridge, near the Azores Triple Junction, Océan Atlantique (eaux portugaises, Açores)

Volcanogenic massive sulfidesFe (sulfures)

Type
Shallow seafloor hydrothermal sulfides (diffuse-flow slabs)

Seafloor hydrothermal sulfides analysed for Sb by Rouxel et al. (2003), values published as ε123Sb. Marcasite from low-temperature diffuse-flow hydrothermal slabs, with very high δ123Sb (about +1.5 to +1.7 ‰), fractionated up to 1 ‰ relative to seawater: kinetic reduction of seawater Sb(V) to Sb(III) in a fluid that lost about 85 % of its Sb(V). Indicative coordinates.
