Mississippi Valley TypeZn-Pb

Type
Carbonate-hosted Zn-Pb (MVT)

Cantabrian MVT Zn-Pb deposits, hosted in carbonates of different ages. Zinc comes from a single deep fluid (about 250 to 320 °C), precipitation occurring on mixing with a sulfur-rich connate fluid; δ66Zn reflects this mixing, unrelated to δ34S. High-altitude zinc mines (Mánforas orebody, 0.6 Mt at 13 % Zn) in Lower Carboniferous limestones; early sphalerite (stage 1) and main sphalerite (stage 2) of different compositions. Coordinates of the mine site.
