IsoFind is software designed exclusively for professional use (laboratories, institutions, independent experts, companies). These terms govern the contractual relationship between the Publisher (IsoFind, sole proprietorship / micro-enterprise) and any professional customer wishing to acquire a license.
These General Terms and Conditions of Sale define the terms applicable to any acquisition of an IsoFind software license by a professional customer, whether the order is placed online or directly with the Publisher. Acquiring a license implies unreserved acceptance of these terms and conditions.
IsoFind is an isotopic data processing software provided in an On-Premise mode (local installation on the Customer's machine). The software operates entirely offline to guarantee the sovereignty and confidentiality of the processed scientific data.
A free "Research" version with no time limit is made available. It can be used for any purpose, including commercial purposes, within the limits of its features. It also allows verification of the technical and functional compatibility of the software prior to purchasing a paid license.
The Publisher grants the Customer a non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the software. This license in no way constitutes a transfer of intellectual property rights over the software or its components.
Each license is tied to a single workstation, identified by the machine fingerprint provided by the Customer when ordering. In the event of replacement or reinstallation of this workstation, the Customer may request the transfer of their license to a new machine free of charge, provided they undertake to cease using the old one.
The Customer is strictly prohibited from:
Any violation of these restrictions will result in the immediate termination of the license without refund and may give rise to legal action.
The IsoFind Pro license is offered at two rates, which provide access to the exact same features:
The Customer indicates the category corresponding to their usage at the time of order. The Publisher relies on this declaration and does not carry out systematic checks. If the Customer's usage evolves during the license term towards a commercial purpose, the commercial rate shall apply from the next renewal.
For the same order, each workstation beyond the first benefits from a 10% discount.
The license is delivered as a license file sent electronically to the address provided by the Customer, within five working days of payment receipt. No physical delivery is planned.
The file is generated for the machine fingerprint provided by the Customer during the order. An incorrect or incomplete fingerprint renders the file unusable: the Publisher will then reissue it free of charge upon receipt of the correct fingerprint.
Activation takes place on the Customer's workstation, without connection to a Publisher server. The software does not include any online verification mechanism or remote deactivation: a service outage on the Publisher's part has no effect on an already activated license.
The Customer is responsible for storing their license file. Reissuance is possible upon request, after verification of the holder's identity.
Prices are expressed in Euros, excluding taxes.
For online orders, payment is processed by Stripe, acting as a merchant of record: Stripe collects the price, calculates and collects the applicable VAT according to the Customer's country, and issues the corresponding invoice. Payment is made by credit card or other payment methods offered at checkout.
For orders placed directly with the Publisher, notably via purchase order, payment is made by bank transfer. The invoice is then issued by the Publisher, with VAT not applicable pursuant to Article 293 B of the French General Tax Code (Code général des impôts).
In all cases, the license file is transmitted only after full receipt of payment.
Licenses are subscribed for a period of one year from the issuance of the license file. They are not subject to automatic renewal: renewal results from an explicit order by the Customer. In the event of renewal before the expiration date, the remaining period on the current license is added to the new one.
Upon expiration, the software reverts to its free mode. The Customer's data, projects, and ISOF files are fully preserved and remain accessible; only the features reserved for paid editions become unavailable.
In the event of a material breach by either party of its obligations, the other party may terminate the contract after a formal notice remains unheeded for thirty days.
Important information: the right of withdrawal provided for in articles L221-18 and following of the French Consumer Code is reserved for non-professional consumers. It does not apply to contracts concluded between professionals.
Furthermore, regarding digital content provided on an intangible medium, no refund will be granted once the license file has been issued, unless due to an error attributable to the Publisher.
The free Research version allows the Customer to test the software before any financial commitment.
The license provides access to bug fixes and minor updates released during its validity period. Major developments may be subject to a separate offer.
Support is provided electronically, in French and English, on business days. It covers installation, activation, and documented usage of the software. It does not include the scientific interpretation of results or the development of specific extensions, which fall under separate services.
The software is provided "as is". The Publisher exercises the utmost care regarding the precision of its algorithms and methods, but cannot be held liable for scientific interpretation errors or decisions made based on the results produced by the software.
The Publisher's liability shall under no circumstances be engaged for indirect damages (data loss, loss of operating profit, business interruption, commercial damage). In any event, the Publisher's liability is limited to the amount actually paid by the Customer for the license concerned.
All elements making up the IsoFind software and the isofind.tech website (source code, algorithms, databases, design, logos, documentation) are and remain the exclusive intellectual property of the Publisher, protected by French laws and international copyright conventions.
Except as provided below, any reproduction, representation, or use, even partial, without prior written authorization from the Publisher is strictly prohibited.
The following are excepted, and remain governed by the licence that accompanies them:
isof package, released under the MIT licence;The data produced by the software remains the exclusive property of the Customer. They are stored locally in documented and exportable formats: SQLite database, open ISOF format published under the MIT license, standard tabular exports.
The Publisher guarantees that no proprietary format is used and that no online infrastructure dependency is required to read the generated data. The cessation of the Publisher's business activity will have no effect on the readability of files already produced.
IsoFind is designed to operate offline. The Publisher does not collect any scientific data processed by the software on the Customers' machines.
Only data strictly necessary for invoicing and license issuance (name, professional contact details, machine fingerprint, license number) are retained by the Publisher, in compliance with legal obligations and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Credit card data is processed by Stripe and is never transmitted to the Publisher.
The Publisher uses service providers for website hosting and payment management (Stripe). None of these providers have access to the Customer's scientific data, which never leave the Customer's own systems.
Each party undertakes to maintain the confidentiality of non-public information disclosed to it in connection with the contract, throughout its duration and for three years following its termination.
These terms and conditions are governed by French law. In the event of a dispute relating to their interpretation or execution, the parties undertake to seek an amicable solution within thirty (30) days following notification of the dispute.
Failing an amicable resolution, exclusive jurisdiction is assigned to the courts within the jurisdiction of the Publisher's registered office (Foix, Ariège).
IsoFind Atlas is a database of published isotope signatures, available online at isofind.tech. These terms govern free browsing by any visitor, the reuse of its data under the IsoFind Atlas Data Licence (article 7), and the sale and use of paid Atlas access, reserved for professional customers. They are separate from the terms of sale of the IsoFind software.
These terms set out the rules applicable to any use of IsoFind Atlas (the "Atlas") and to any purchase of Atlas access from the Publisher (IsoFind, sole proprietorship / micro-enterprise, Foix, France).
Browsing the Atlas implies acceptance of the articles that concern it. Purchasing Atlas access implies unreserved acceptance of these terms in full.
Atlas access is sold exclusively to professionals: researchers, teachers, laboratories, institutions, consultancies, companies and independent experts, purchasing it for the needs of their activity. By ordering, the Customer declares that they are acting for professional purposes. The offers are not intended for consumers.
The Atlas brings together isotope values compiled from the scientific literature: ore deposits, environmental sites, reference signatures and fractionation factors. Each value links to the publication it comes from and, when known, to the standard it was measured against.
Browsing is free, with no account and no sign-up. It includes the map, search, complete records, values, uncertainties, standards and sources, equilibrium fractionation curves, the number of candidates compatible with a sample, and the ability to submit Contributions.
Atlas access adds the full ranking of compatible candidates, correction for processing steps, the processing chain simulator, reserved reference signatures and Exports in CSV and JSON formats.
The Database is continuously expanded and corrected. Its content, scope and the presentation of features may change, without a current Atlas access losing the features described above.
Atlas access is offered at two rates, which provide exactly the same features:
The Customer declares at purchase the category matching their use. The Publisher relies on this declaration. A clearly inaccurate declaration entitles the Publisher to claim the price difference or to suspend access under article 14.
Prices are expressed in euros, excluding taxes. Payment is processed by Stripe, acting as merchant of record: Stripe collects the price, calculates and collects the VAT applicable in the Customer's country, and issues the corresponding invoice.
Once payment is confirmed, the Customer is taken to the Atlas activation page. Activation creates Credentials, displayed only once: the Customer is responsible for writing them down and keeping them. Payment must be activated within thirty days; after that, the Customer contacts the Publisher, who activates the access manually.
Atlas access requires no account and no email address. It is valid for one year from activation. It is never renewed automatically: the Customer may extend it by purchasing a new year and adding it to existing Credentials, in which case the year is added to the current expiry date.
If Credentials are lost, the Publisher restores access upon presentation of the payment receipt number, within two working days. The Customer is responsible for keeping their password confidential, and may change it at any time once signed in.
On expiry, the Atlas remains free to browse; only the reserved features become unavailable.
Each set of Credentials is tied to a single natural person. It may not be shared, lent, transferred or used by several people, including within the same team, laboratory or company. An organisation with several Atlas users purchases one access per user.
Publishing Credentials, embedding them in a shared script or tool, and any simultaneous use from clearly distinct locations or networks are treated as sharing.
The Data available in the Atlas are made available under the IsoFind Atlas Data Licence, version 1.0, set out in this article. It applies to every User, with or without Atlas access, subject to articles 8 and 9.
Free of charge and without prior request, the User may, for non-commercial use:
Non-commercial use means use falling under the "research and education" rate in article 4: public or non-profit research, teaching, thesis work carried out within an institution.
Any other use is commercial, notably work billed to a third party or conducted on behalf of a company, including when carried out by a public laboratory as part of a service contract. In that context, reuse of the Data is reserved for Customers holding Atlas access at the standard rate, for the needs of their own work, or requires the Publisher's written consent.
Selling the Data, or integrating it into a product or service offered to third parties, requires the Publisher's prior written consent in all cases.
A Customer may use their Exports for the needs of their own work, and share them with people directly collaborating on a given project, without making them public.
Any reuse credits the Atlas and the original publication of each value, in a form such as: IsoFind Atlas, isofind.tech/atlas, accessed [date], after [reference of the publication]. A value that has been modified, converted or recalculated is identified as such.
The licence does not allow building or feeding a database, reference set or service that competes with the Atlas, nor training an artificial intelligence system on the Database, whether the use is commercial or not. These uses and the other prohibited uses are set out in article 8.
Principle: the Atlas is free to consult, but it may not be used as raw material for another database. Published values remain scientific facts that anyone can find in their original publications; what is protected is the work of collecting, checking, harmonising and organising them that makes up the Database.
Unless the Publisher has given prior written consent, and whether or not the User holds Atlas access, it is prohibited to:
These prohibitions apply subject to the exceptions made mandatory by law, notably extraction of insubstantial parts by a lawful user and text and data mining carried out for scientific research by research organisations (Articles L. 122-5-3, II and L. 342-3 of the French Intellectual Property Code).
Pursuant to Article L. 122-5-3, III of the same code and Article 4 of Directive (EU) 2019/790, the Publisher expressly reserves its rights against any text and data mining of the Atlas for purposes other than scientific research, notably commercial purposes or model training.
The programming interface behind the Atlas is designed to serve its browsing interface. It is not a public API. To keep the service available to everyone and prevent mass extraction, the following limits apply over a rolling twenty-four-hour period:
These limits comfortably cover normal individual use. Beyond them, requests may be refused until the end of the current period. Repeated excess, or any attempt to circumvent these limits, notably by multiplying addresses or Credentials, is a breach within the meaning of article 14.
Organisations whose needs exceed these limits (institutional access, integration into an information system, full export) may conclude a programmatic access agreement with the Publisher, setting out volumes, permitted uses and price.
The Publisher may adjust these limits as the service evolves. A reduction only applies to current Atlas access upon renewal.
Every Contribution must refer to a publication or dataset that can be consulted. It is reviewed before being added; the Publisher remains free to accept, correct, harmonise or reject it, without having to give reasons.
The contributor warrants that they are entitled to submit the Contribution and that it contains no confidential data or data covered by an obligation to a third party. They grant the Publisher, free of charge, on a non-exclusive basis, worldwide and for the full term of the rights, the right to reproduce, adapt, translate, integrate and distribute the Contribution in the Atlas and in IsoFind products.
On request, the contributor's name appears on the record concerned. Any name and email address provided are used solely to follow up on the Contribution.
The Publisher is the maker of the Database within the meaning of Article L. 341-1 of the French Intellectual Property Code: obtaining, verifying and presenting its contents required a substantial investment (literature survey, value checks, harmonisation of standards, geolocation, classification, translation). The Database is also protected by copyright as regards the selection and arrangement of its contents, its texts, classifications and interface.
The publications cited remain the property of their authors and publishers; the Atlas only reproduces the references and values needed to identify them. The code of the Atlas interface and server remains the exclusive property of the Publisher.
Nothing in these terms transfers any rights to the User beyond the licence set out in article 7.
The Data is compiled from third-party publications. The Publisher takes the utmost care in compiling it, but does not guarantee its accuracy, completeness or fitness for a particular purpose. An error in the original publication or in its transcription remains possible; reports are welcome.
Before any decision with consequences, notably regulatory, contractual, judicial or expert, the User checks the values used against the original publications. Sample comparisons and the simulator indicate compatibility; they are neither a certified attribution of origin nor an expert opinion.
Free browsing is provided as is, without warranty. To the extent permitted by law, the Publisher shall not be liable for indirect damages, and its liability towards a Customer is limited to the amount actually paid for Atlas access during the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
The Atlas is an online service, provided on a best-efforts basis. It may be interrupted for maintenance, updates or force majeure, without such interruptions giving rise to compensation.
Should the Publisher permanently cease operating the Atlas, the Customer would be refunded pro rata for the remaining term of their access.
In the event of a breach of articles 6, 8 or 9, the Publisher may immediately suspend the Credentials concerned, or block the network address involved, while the circumstances are established.
Where the breach is confirmed, the Publisher may terminate Atlas access after a formal notice has remained unheeded for eight days, or immediately in the event of mass extraction, organised sharing of Credentials or repeated breach. Termination for breach gives no right to a refund and does not prevent the Publisher from taking action to enforce its rights in the Database.

The Atlas asks for no account, name or email address. The only data processed are:
This processing is based on the performance of the contract and on the Publisher's legitimate interest in protecting the service. Users may exercise their rights of access, rectification and erasure with the Publisher, and lodge a complaint with the CNIL (French data protection authority).
The Publisher may amend these terms. The version applicable to an Atlas access is the one in force on the day of purchase, for its entire term. The version applicable to free browsing is the one in force on the day of browsing.
These terms are governed by French law. In the event of a dispute relating to their interpretation or performance, the parties undertake to seek an amicable solution within thirty (30) days following notification of the dispute.
Failing an amicable resolution, exclusive jurisdiction is assigned to the courts within the jurisdiction of the Publisher's registered office (Foix, Ariège).
In the event of any discrepancy between language versions, the French version prevails.
The ISOF format is open and free to use. These terms set out what an ISOF signature guarantees, and govern the sale, issuance, use and revocation of the certificates issued by the IsoFind certification authority. They are separate from the terms of sale of the IsoFind software.
These terms define the framework for using the ISOF format (Isotopic Secure Open Format) and the terms applicable to any order of an ISOF signing certificate from the Publisher (IsoFind, sole proprietorship / micro-enterprise, Foix, France). Ordering a certificate implies unreserved acceptance of these terms.
Certificates are sold exclusively to professionals, who acquire them to sign the results of their activity. By ordering, the Customer declares that they are acting for professional purposes. The offers are not intended for consumers.
isof package, published in Python and Rust under the MIT license, which reads and verifies ISOF files..csr file generated in IsoFind, containing the Holder's public key.The Specification is public. The Reference library is distributed under the MIT license: anyone may read, write, convert and verify ISOF files, with or without IsoFind, and develop their own compatible tools. Nothing in these terms restricts the rights granted by that license.
Verifying an ISOF file, at level 1 or level 2, is free and open to all. It is performed offline, without any third-party server.
A product may state that it is compatible with the ISOF format. The names IsoFind and ISOF may not, however, be used to suggest that a product, file or result is published, certified or endorsed by the Publisher.
Scope of a signature: a valid ISOF signature attests that the file has not been modified since it was signed, and that it was signed with the key associated with a Certificate issued to a Holder whose identity was verified. It does not attest the scientific accuracy of the values, the quality of the measurement, or the competence or accreditation of the Holder.
IsoFind Certificates are not qualified certificates within the meaning of Regulation (EU) No 910/2014 ("eIDAS"), and an ISOF signature is not a qualified electronic signature. It is evidence whose weight is assessed case by case, notably under Articles 1366 and 1367 of the French Civil Code.
ISOF files are not time-stamped by a third party: the signing date is the one stated in the file.
Certificates are issued for one year, at the following annual rates:
Headcount is that of the entity named in the Certificate on the day of the order. The Customer declares their category; the Publisher may request supporting evidence and, in the event of an inaccurate declaration, claim the price difference.
Prices are expressed in euros, excluding taxes. Payment is due on order and is processed by Stripe, acting as merchant of record: Stripe collects the price, calculates and collects the VAT applicable in the Customer's country, and issues the corresponding invoice. A Certificate is independent of any software license: it works with the Essential, Research and Pro editions of IsoFind.
The Customer generates their private key in IsoFind, which encrypts it locally. They send their Certificate request to the Publisher from the email address used for the order. The private key never leaves their workstation and is never disclosed to the Publisher.
Before any issuance, the Publisher verifies the Holder's identity:
If verification fails, the order is refunded in full. Once verification succeeds, the Certificate is sent as a .crt file, to be imported into IsoFind.
The Customer warrants the accuracy of the information provided. They inform the Publisher without delay of any change that makes it inaccurate, notably the Holder leaving the named organisation.
The Holder is solely responsible for keeping their private key and the password protecting it confidential. They are answerable for any signature produced with that key until they have requested its revocation.
They undertake to:
For an organisation Certificate, the organisation designates the people authorised to sign on its behalf. It is answerable for signatures produced with the key associated with its Certificate.
It is prohibited to:
Any breach entitles the Publisher to revoke the Certificate without notice or refund.
The Certificate is valid for one year from issuance. It is not renewed automatically: renewal results from a new order, at the current rate, with a new Certificate request. The Publisher may repeat the identity verification.
Expiry does not affect files already signed: their integrity remains verifiable, and the Holder's identity remains readable in the Certificate they contain. An expired Certificate can no longer be used to sign new files.
The Holder, or for an organisation Certificate an authorised representative, may request revocation of their Certificate at any time, by email sent from the address used for the order. The Publisher may revoke a Certificate on its own initiative in the event of inaccurate information, key compromise, breach of these terms or non-payment.
Revocation takes effect when published in the Revocation list. The list is built into the IsoFind software and distributed with its updates: a tool verifying offline with an older Revocation list may not yet reflect a recent revocation. A verifier who attaches particular importance to a file makes sure they have the latest version.
Revocation at the Holder's request or for a breach on their part gives no right to a refund. Revocation due to an error by the Certification Authority leads to the free issuance of a new Certificate for the remaining term.
The Publisher undertakes to verify Holders' identities in accordance with article 6, to keep the Root CA key offline and the Issuing CA key in a hardware security module, and to publish revocations without undue delay.
The Publisher is not liable for the content of signed files, their scientific value, the use of the private key by the Holder or by a third party to whom the Holder gave access, or decisions made by a verifier relying on a signature. To the extent permitted by law, its liability is excluded for indirect damages and capped at the price paid for the Certificate concerned.
Important information: the right of withdrawal provided for in Articles L. 221-18 et seq. of the French Consumer Code is reserved for consumers. It does not apply to contracts concluded between professionals.
No refund is granted once the Certificate has been issued, unless due to an error attributable to the Publisher. The full refund in the event of failed identity verification, provided for in article 6, remains applicable.
Identity verification for personal Holders is performed by Stripe, which retains identity documents under its own policy; the Publisher only receives the result and the verified first and last names.
The Certificate contains the Holder's name and, where applicable, that of the organisation. It is embedded in every signed file and readable by anyone who receives it: the Holder accepts this disclosure, which is inherent to how signatures work. The Revocation list only contains Certificate serial numbers.
The Publisher keeps the register of issued Certificates for the lifetime of the Certification Authority, so that the origin of a signature can be established at any time. Holders may exercise their rights of access and rectification with the Publisher; erasure cannot extend to files already signed and distributed, which the Publisher does not hold.

IsoFind brings together several services around isotope geochemistry. The Atlas gathers published values for ore deposits, contaminated sites and fractionation, free to browse, with more than 1,800 reference pages in English and French. The IsoFind software is for working on your own measurements, offline. Free online tools such as the standards conversion and two open formats, ISOF (Isotopic Secure Open Format) and IGL (Isotope Geochemistry Language), complete it.
