Largest modern euxinic basin, highly restricted. Oxic surface water (-2.2) carries the composition of continental inputs (rivers about -2), not that of the open ocean (-6.0), despite Mediterranean water from the Bosporus; below the chemocline, Tl drops (7.2 to 0.3 pg/g) and ε205Tl rises to +0.4: pyrite forming in the water column preferentially takes up light Tl (α of 0.99992 closed-system, 0.99971 steady-state) (Owens et al., 2017).
