Wenyuhe (Zhushan)
Hubei, Zhushan, north Daba Mountains witherite belt, China

- Type
- Stratiform witherite and barite in Lower Cambrian siliceous slates
Medium to small deposit found in 1985, at the contact of siliceous slates of the first member and carbonaceous slates of the second member of the Lujiaping Formation; barite at the base, witherite in the middle, barite and organic matter at the top, overturned sequence. Lü et al. (2003): witherite and barytocalcite from -15.6 to -8.5 ‰ in δ11B and δ13C from -22.2 to -15.7 ‰.
δ11B in ‰ (per mil) Values of the same system
Standard : NIST SRM 951
| Value | Range | n | Mineral or matrix | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| −13.2 ± 3.6 ‰ | −15.6 / −9 ‰ | 3 | witherite Mean and standard deviation recalculated from 3 analyses, -15.6 to -9.0 (H-9 -14.9; H-12 -15.6; H-13 -9.0). Boron from pore water and degraded organic matter during early diagenesis, with minor deep basinal brine; carbon from sedimentary organic matter according to the authors. H-20 without a δ11B value. | Lü et al. (2003), Carbon, oxygen and boron isotopic studies of Huangbaishuwan witherite d… |
| −12 ± 4.9 ‰ | −15.4 / −8.5 ‰ | 2 | barytocalcite Mean and standard deviation recalculated from 2 analyses, -15.4 to -8.5 (H-11 -15.4; H-19-1 -8.5). | Lü et al. (2003), Carbon, oxygen and boron isotopic studies of Huangbaishuwan witherite d… |
| −1.5 ‰ | 1 | late colloidal calcite of fissures Single analysis (H-14). Supergene calcite (δ13C -5.8 ‰). The authors calculate a fluid at "-14.5 ‰" which they compare with rain at +16.7 ‰: with their 16 ‰ fractionation the fluid should be +14.5 ‰, so the printed sign is probably wrong. | Lü et al. (2003), Carbon, oxygen and boron isotopic studies of Huangbaishuwan witherite d… |
