Turquoise Ridge (Getchell trend)

Nevada, Humboldt County, Getchell trend, United States

Other hydrothermalAu (As, Tl, Hg, Sb)

Type
Carlin-type gold in Paleozoic carbonate and clastic rocks

Underground deposit in the hanging wall of the Getchell fault (NNW strike, 40 to 55° E dip), in strongly deformed Cambrian to Ordovician carbonate and clastic rocks with pillow basalts; main stage of carbonate dissolution and silicification, silicate argillisation and deposition of Tl-rich auriferous arsenian pyrite, quartz, illite and kaolinite (Cail and Cline, 2001; Cassinerio and Muntean, 2011). Tl and Au correlated in the arsenian rims of pyrite (microprobe): first published ε205Tl for a Carlin-type ore (-1.28), ruling out the Paleozoic carbonates (-2.72 to -4.28) as the main metal source (Wickham, 2014). Getchell mine coordinates after Mindat, the property comprising Getchell, Turquoise Ridge and N Zone.
