- Type
- Metamorphosed quartz-huebnerite vein
Large single quartz-huebnerite vein in the albite granodiorite of the Vance County pluton, of late Precambrian or Cambrian age, sheared then metamorphosed to amphibolite facies in the middle Paleozoic. Hydrothermal origin before metamorphism, with meteoric water (low δ18O of vein and wall rocks); metamorphism only re-equilibrated quartz-sericite pairs (550 ± 50 °C). Sulfide deposition at about 260 and 320 °C. Coordinates estimated within the Hamme district. Indicative coordinates.
