- Cu-Mo IOCG related to tourmaline breccia pipes
Small Cu-Mo mine about 200 km north of the Punta del Cobre district: massive Ca-Fe-K alteration (actinolite, magnetite, tourmaline, sulphides) in the core of a diorite dated at 110.0 ± 2.1 Ma, postdating two monolithic breccia pipes cemented by tourmaline, quartz, magnetite, molybdenite, pyrite and chalcopyrite. Boiling recorded, tourmaline formed at 400 to over 600 °C (Tornos et al., 2010). Tornos et al. (2012): δ11B from -7.6 to +0.5 ‰, magmatic boron with a share from the continental basement.
