- Type
- Wolframite-bearing hydrothermal breccia pipe
The only known tungsten-bearing breccia pipe of the Massif Central, hosted in migmatitic biotite-sillimanite paragneisses of the Saint-Léonard-de-Noblat unit; oval breccia of 80 × 340 m cut by quartz-wolframite-sulphide veins mined down to 300 m (about 4000 t WO3 at 0.5 %, second French tungsten mine of the 20th century). Wolframite dated at 317.7 ± 0.7 Ma (U-Pb), muscovite at 323.4 ± 0.9 Ma (Ar-Ar); Auriat and Aureil granites nearby, no granite found at depth. Harlaux et al. (2019): four tourmaline generations from -13.3 to -7.8 ‰, high-temperature interaction between fluids and the metamorphic basement.
