Eastern Transbaikalia, Streltsovsk ore field (Krasnokamensk), Russia

UraniumU (Mo)

Type
Hydrothermal uranium veins (pitchblende)

Streltsovsk ore field, linked to a Mesozoic caldera (felsic volcanics and granites), Russia's leading uranium district; spherulitic pitchblende at about 135 ± 3 Ma. Largest internal 238U/235U variation of the study (0.70 ‰ between growth zones of a single crust). 238U/235U ratio measured by Chernyshev et al. (2014): uranium of the early growth zones of pitchblende crusts heavier (by 0.22 to 0.45 ‰) than that of the latest zones, nuclear volume fractionation during reduction of U(VI) to U(IV). Indicative coordinates (Streltsovsk field).
