Mount Gibson (gold)
Western Australia, Murchison Province (Yilgarn Craton), Australia
Orogenic goldAu
- Type
- Archaean amphibolite-facies gold in sulphide-bearing schists
Deposit found in the mid-1980s at the southern tip of the Yalgoo-Singleton belt (Hornet and Orion zones). Jiang et al. (2002): Mg-rich tourmaline of mineralized schists from -18.6 to -17.0 ‰, coarse tourmaline vein at Orion from -21.9 to -21.4 ‰; REE patterns and compositions close to massive sulphide tourmalines, the host schists being for the authors the metamorphosed equivalent of a VMS-style seafloor hydrothermal horizon.
