Mariinsky (Malyshevo)
Central Urals, Ural emerald belt (Malyshevo, Sverdlovsk Oblast), Russia
OtherBe (émeraude)
- Type
- Emerald, alexandrite and phenakite in phlogopite schists (schist-hosted type)
Largest emerald, alexandrite and phenakite deposit of the Ural emerald belt, 80 km NE of Yekaterinburg, in a serpentinite melange zone between the Adui and Malyshevo plutons; lenticular emerald-bearing phlogopite schist bodies (type 1 veins) cut by late emerald-free pockets and veinlets (type 2). Baksheev et al. (2018): tourmalines from -11.3 to -8.4 ‰ (mean -10.1 ‰), formed at about 420 to 360 °C; fluid from -8.6 to -5.7 ‰, mixed boron from granites and ultramafic host rocks. Indicative coordinates of Malyshevo, not published in the article.
