Orogenic goldAu

Type
Orogenic gold in quartz-tourmaline-carbonate veins in the Bourlamaque pluton

Mine of the Val-d'Or vein field: quartz-tourmaline-carbonate (QTC) veins in shear zones. Daver et al. (2020): three-phase paragenesis, early gold and pyrite under reducing conditions, tourmaline and barite under an oxidizing fluid, then barren As-Co-Ni cubic pyrite; district tourmaline δ11B from -15.6 to -7.7 ‰, lighter to the west, mixing of a deep metamorphic fluid and a supracrustal fluid. Mine closed in 2016 in the centre of the dioritic to tonalitic Bourlamaque pluton (170 km²); 1 to 3.5 m veins in E-W shear zones, cut by dioritic dykes.
