Type
Metamorphosed epithermal gold in pipes

Metamorphosed epithermal gold deposit in subvertical pipes, within a sericite-quartz-andalusite-topaz altered domain at the contact of the Pukala porphyritic intrusion (1896 ± 4 Ma); Orivesi mine worked since 1994, 510,000 ounces of gold produced by end 2010. Quartz-tourmaline veins postdate the main alteration and mineralization. Talikka and Vuori (2010): vein tourmaline from -11.8 to -9.9 ‰.
