SkarnsFe
- Type
- Iron (magnetite) skarn with scapolite
Proven reserve of 130 Mt at 42.3 % Fe in two large orebodies (Zhangfushan and Yuhuasi) and several small ones, along the southern and western contacts of the Jinshandian pluton (quartz diorite and quartz monzonite, 127 to 132 Ma) with Middle Triassic carbonates holding evaporite horizons (gypsum, halite) and continental clastic rocks. Early stage (garnet, diopside, scapolite, albite, tourmaline), magnetite-scapolite stage, then late stage (pyrite, anhydrite). Zeng et al. (2020): scapolite Cl/Br and early tourmaline delta11B (-5.0 to -3.2 ‰) magmatic, then brines from evaporite dissolution in the magnetite and late stages (Cl/Br 2900 to 6200, apatite 87Sr/86Sr 0.7098 to 0.7109).
