Orogenic goldAu

Type
Orogenic gold in a quartz-tourmaline-carbonate vein stockwork in quartz diorite

Mine of the Val-d'Or vein field: quartz-tourmaline-carbonate (QTC) veins in shear zones. Daver et al. (2020): three-phase paragenesis, early gold and pyrite under reducing conditions, tourmaline and barite under an oxidizing fluid, then barren As-Co-Ni cubic pyrite; district tourmaline δ11B from -15.6 to -7.7 ‰, lighter to the west, mixing of a deep metamorphic fluid and a supracrustal fluid. Stockwork in a 0.1-0.25 by 3.8 km quartz diorite intrusion within Jacola Formation metabasalts, 1.5 km north of the Cadillac-Larder Lake fault; albite-sericite then biotite-chlorite haloes.
